GWCC Club Trophies
Welcome to the Glasgow Wheelers Trophy section. Due to the history involved in the club, there are many trophies available that date back to the founding of the club. These are described below. If any members can contribute to more of the history behind the trophies please contact the club race secretary.
Trophy: Junior Road Race Championship Trophy
Established: 1935
The JRRC Trophy was established in 1935. The Championship is decided on a points basis. Junior members best 6 performances in any events open to Juniors in S.C.U. Race Calendar. Points to be awarded as follows:- 6 points for 1st place down to 1 point for 6th place. Junior with highest points total wins Championship. In the event of a tie, competitors will be separated by reference to the placing gained, i.e. most 1st placing, if still equal most 2nd placing etc. and if necessary extended out with six events till a winner is obtained.

Trophy: Junior Time Trial Championship Trophy
Established: 1938
The JTTC Trophy was established in 1938 and presented by J.S.Wallace. The Championship is decided over open events as follows:- 25 and 50 miles. Average M.P.H. to count over the two distances. Junior with the highest average M.P.H. wins Championship.

Trophy: Veterans Time Trial Championship Trophy
Established: 2001
The Veterans competition cup is competed for annually over 10,25 and 50 miles on aggregate plus minutes and seconds on competitors times compared with age standard on V.T.T.A. Standard Tables.

Trophy: Jack Shirley Best Newcomer Trophy
Established: 1995
One of the smallest, but most significant trophies. After Glasgow Wheeler Jack died in an traffic accident whilst cycling, his family donated the cup to the club. The best newcomer is given to the Glasgow Wheeler who makes a notable effort after joining the club.

Trophy: Pat McCabe Trophy
Established: 1993
This confined club trophy is based on 10 mile time trials and awards points to riders' based on their handicapped times. It is a test of riders ability to better or match their previous personal best times.The rider with the lowest handicap time wins the points. First place gets 15 points with each subsequent place getting 1 point less down to 15th. Each of the 10 rounds comprises a 10-mile time trial with the best 6 results to count.

Trophy: 3rd / 4th CAT RR Championship for J.R Patterson Cup
Established: 1995
Open to members who have started the season with a 3rd or 4th category licence. The winner to be the highest placed member in the S.C.U. Development Road Race Series.

Trophy: Novice Track Championship Trophy
Established: 1937
Novice Track Championship for P.J. McCabe Trophy for annual competition in events pre decided. It can additionally be awarded to novice track members with notable performances.

Trophy: Senior Track Championship - Paul Richfield Trophy
Established: 1935
The Club Track Championship to be decided on a B.A.R. basis, namely that points be given for all open events which are scratch events and not by invitation plus confined events if necessary. 1st 3 points, 2nd 2 points, 3rd 1 point. Member with highest points total wins. If not enough members for competition, it can additionally be awarded to track members with notable performances.

Trophy: Fastest 25 mile TT
Established: 1957
That the fastest ‘25’ Shield Competition be held and a replica be awarded to the member who records the fastest time in a 25 mile time trial annually.

Trophy: GWCC Hill Climb Trophy - Presented by J.M.Thomson
Established: 1956

Trophy: Senior Road Race Championship Cup

The winner of the Senior Road Race Championship will be the highest placed member in the S.C.U. Grand Prix Series.
Trophy: Club Youth Championship Cup
Established: To be confirmed
Over 10, 25 and 50 miles - Open to members who have not beaten qualifying times of 24m 48s for 10 miles, 1h 2m, 0s for 25 miles and 2h 9m 10s for 50 miles in the preceding 5 years. Average M.P.H. to count over the three distances.
Trophy: Senior Time Trial Cup
Established: To be confirmed
Cup donated by T.R.Dick Wallace Esq. (Vice President 1926). The Championship will be decided over open events as follows:- 25, 50, and 100 miles. Average M.P.H. to count over the three distances. Senior with highest M.P.H. wins Championships.
Trophy: Club BAR (Best all Rounder)
Established: 1957
The winner of the Club B.A.R. competition is the member who has the highest placing in the S.C.U. B.A.R. competition. A medal is to be awarded.

Trophy: GWCC Memorial Trophy
Established: Pre War, approx 1945
Memorial Trophy for the members who lost their lives in the 2nd world war. The original trophy was an open TTT with either 2, 3 or 4 up.

Trophy: Middle Makers Competition
Established: To be confirmed
